Cameron Park is an unincorporated area in El Dorado County, approximately 30 miles east of Sacramento via Highway 50. It’s nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, blanketed in oaks and pine trees and boasting a rich history in Gold Rush and Native American life.
Cameron Park is known for its sense of community. The fellowship is evident in summer festivals with fireworks, family movie nights, Halloween carnival, Santa parade, and Easter Egg hunt. Come out for the Annual Show N’ Shine & Fly-In event at Cameron Park airport and view vintage airplanes and classic cars. Adjacent to the airport are the Airpark Estates, a unique subdivision with direct access to the airport via aircraft taxiways.
Known as a “Special Place to Live” by its residents, Cameron Park has a rich history seeped in old Western styles. Burkes Junction, a blend of dining, shopping, and day-to-day business, showcases quaint historical buildings and an old-fashioned train which operates on weekends and in the summer. Cameron Park is now home to three major shopping centers – perfect for daily necessities and family-friendly outings. Cameron Park is also renowned for the Marshall Medical Center, which is next to upscale senior and assisted living communities, making this area one of the largest grouping of healthcare industry professionals in the El Dorado County region.
Cameron Park isn’t only about business. The Cameron Park Lake recreation area is popular among residents and offers tennis courts, walking paths, fishing, boat rentals, and a swim area. A skate park can be found at Christa McAuliffe Park. An aquatics center and gymnasium allows the community services district to offer basketball leagues, swim programs, and kids summer camp. The Cameron Park Country Club boasts a championship golf course with junior programs and several family-friendly events.
Cameron Park is a rural mix of estates, large ranches, horse properties, gated neighborhoods, and residential homes. For the adventurous, nearby attractions include Folsom Lake, the American River, and Apple Hill; while the slopes and beaches of Lake Tahoe are 75 miles away.
